Hi. I’m Brent Probinsky, the law firm of Probinsky & Cole. We’re here in Sarasota, in Tampa, in Brandon, and in Orlando. We specialize in accident cases, worker’s compensation, which are accidents at work, as well as accidents – negligence in general. It could be a car accident. It could be a defective product. It could be medical malpractice and so on.
One of the first questions that clients often ask us is, “How long will my case take?” It’s a fair question.
- When will I be compensated?
- When will all of this be over?
It seems like sometimes the lawsuit itself is as painful as the accident itself. It depends on your case really:
- How serious is your injury?
- Are we going to file a lawsuit?
- Are we going to try to settle the case before filing a lawsuit?
- Is the case going to trial?
We file lawsuits in probably half of our cases when we have serious injuries and large insurance limits to get the maximum we can and many times, the case is settled before actually going to trial before a jury.
So less than a year, less than six months. Sometimes with a smaller case, with small insurance limits, with small – with less serious injuries. A moderate case could be a year or more of if it’s a lawsuit, it could actually last two years, three years, sometimes even more. There’s a process of discovery, depositions, experts giving testimony and so on and so forth.
So to prepare a case for trial, it takes a couple of years and hopefully we will get it settled for you as soon as we can. We want to do everything right and do it properly so that we get you the maximum compensation for your serious injury.
Brent Probinsky, the law firm of Probinsky & Cole, we’re here to help you. Thank you.
